Topic 1 concerns the permanent disbarment of Tampa lawyer Stephen Diaco by the Florida Supreme Court. The fate of fellow attorneys Robert Adams and Adam Filthaut, all from the law firm of Adams & Diaco, is pending. This action comes after an incident occurred during the trial of two radio personalities in 2013. Todd “MJ” Schnitt (represented by attorney C. Philip Campbell) sued “Bubba the Love Sponge” Todd Clem (represented by Adams & Diaco). During the trial a paralegal for Adams & Diaco named Melissa Personius was instructed by her boss to catch Campbell (Schnitt’s attorney) drinking. She spotted him drinking at a bar/steakhouse, flirted with him, lied to him about where she worked and persuaded him to get behind the wheel of her car all while in contact with her bosses. Her bosses made sure Campbell was pulled over and arrested for DUI by Tampa police through their contacts with Sgt. Ray Fernandez. Sergeant Fernandez was later fired by his department. Also quoted in the article is Campbell’s attorney John Fitzgibbons, Florida Bar spokeswoman Susannah Lyle and Pinellas Senior Judge W. Douglas Baird.

Topic 2 concerns the Ohio Supreme Courts review of police liability in chases. Pamela Argabrite, a Lebanon school teacher, suffered serious injuries from an automobile accident. Andrew Barnhart fled from Miami Township police officers and Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies in his vehicle and died after striking Argabrite’s car.
