Topic 1 concerns a video of suspect Robert Claude Smith eluding a Eaton County (Michigan) Sheriff’s deputy and detective before ramming their cars with his pickup truck and knocking one deputy to the ground. Deputies fired eight (8) rounds at Smith and he died of a gunshot wound to the head. Sheriff Tom Reich was referenced in the story.
Topic 2 concerns Maplewood (Minnesota) Police School Liaison (Resource) Officer Lonn Bakke who was in the Harmony Learning Center gym with third and fourth-graders. Officer Bakke’s firearm discharged when a third-grader placed his finger into Bakke’s level 3 holster and pulled the trigger. Chief Scott Nadeau was quoted in the story.
