LEO Round Table is an internet based law enforcement talk show. This is episode 9, recorded on 01/11/2016, with the following on-air personalities: Chip DeBlock (Host), Kevin Bouis (Attorney), Mark Hopper, Dan O’Kelly and Bob Alsip. We produce two 30 minute shows each week that are normally released on our YouTube channel Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition to your host, the other panelists (except for attorney Kevin Bouis) are retired law enforcement officers as well.
Topic 1 concerns a grand jury decision to charge Texas state trooper Brian Encinia with perjury after his arrest of B/F Sandra Bland who committed suicide after spending 3 days in jail. The grand jury felt that Trooper Encinia lied in his arrest affidavit by saying Bland was “combative and uncooperative”. The Black Lives Matter movement is also mentioned in the article.
Topic 2 concerns Jackson, Mississippi councilman Kenneth Stokes who is upset with law enforcement from other jurisdictions chasing suspects through his town. He is calling for citizens to throw rocks, bricks and bottles at them (LEOs) in order to send a message that they are not wanted in Jackson. Also quoted in the story are Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department. Councilman Stokes is also making claims that race is a factor.
Topic 3 concerns statements made by actor Samuel L. Jackson to the Hollywood Reporter about racist cops. Jackson asserted that law enforcement officers with ex-military service have PTSD and are racists.
Topic 4 concerns the New York Police Department wanting to know how members of the Civilian Complaint Review Board vote when accusations against police officers are substantiated. The NYPD says that they want transparency while some want to maintain the secrecy. Quoted in the article is board member Bennett Capers (mayoral appointee) and Richard Emery (chairman and friend of Police Commissioner Bill Bratton).
