LEO Round Table is an internet based law enforcement talk show. This is episode 41, recorded on 05/02/2016, with the following on-air personalities: Chip DeBlock (Host), Luke Lirot (Attorney), Bret Bartlett, Mark Hopper, and Charles Humphrey. We produce two 30 minute shows each week that are normally released on our YouTube channel Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition to your host, the other panelists (except for attorney Luke Lirot) are active or retired law enforcement officers as well.

Topic 1 concerns Murfreesboro (Tennessee) Police Chief Karl Durr publicly apologizing for the recent arrest of 10 elementary school students, even though the arrests were related to bullying and assault off campus. In addition, there are no plans to dismiss the charges. Some of the children were handcuffed, which upset some community leaders. Others question whether or not the chief should have publicly apologized.

Topic 2 concerns 8th grader Dedric Colvin who was shot by a plainclothes Baltimore (Maryland) police officer because he had a replica gun. Police Commissioner Kevin Davis announced that the boy and his mother, Volanda Young, will not be charged with a crime. Quoted in the story is activist DeRay Mckesson.

Topic 3 concerns the Dallas (Texas) Police Department outfitting their officers with new “sponge guns”. These guns shoot a sponge pellet from up to 100 feet away and are considered a “less lethal” weapon.

Topic 4 concerns House Bill 953 being considered by the Louisiana Legislature. This bill would make targeting police officers and firefighters a hate crime. Quoted in the story is Louisiana State Representative Lance Harris (who is behind the bill) and Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) National President Chuck Canterbury.

Topic 5 concerns Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe making an executive order restoring the rights (i.e. voting, running for public office, serving on juries and becoming a notary public) of more than 200,000 convicted felons.
