Topic 1 concerns deceased gunman James T. Hodgkinson who targeted Republicans practicing for a charity baseball game at Eugene Simpson Park in Washington, D.C. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was critically wounded in the attack and two Capitol Police officers, a lobbyist and a legislative aide were injured too. Capitol Police Officers David Bailey, Crystal Griner and Henry Cabrera returned gunfire (two of them while wounded) to eliminate the threat and prevent further disaster. Representative Ron DeSantis is referenced in the story.
