Topic 1 concerns a video of Los Angeles County (California) Sheriff’s deputies confronting Ryan Twyman who was under investigation for gun possession. Twyman, who was driving a vehicle, attempted to flee while using his vehicle as a weapon and was fatally shot by two (2) deputies. Reference was made to his passenger, Daimeon Laffell, and attorney Brian Dunn (representing Twyman’s surviving family) in the story.
Topic 2 concerns a controversial video of fired Largo (Florida) Police Off. Brian Livernois responding to a gun threat/battery call and using force to detain an uncooperative 17-year-old suspect. While struggling to gain control of the suspect, Livernois grabbed him by the back of his neck with one hand and appeared to use his other hand on the front of his neck briefly as a controlling technique (and not as a chokehold as others have attempted to misinform). Livernois was subsequently fired for violating department policy.
