Topic 1 concerns a video of the Clearwater (Florida) controversial and debatable Stand Your Ground fatal shooting that occurred when Michael Drejka shot Markeis McGlockton in a convenience store parking lot. Drejka was in the process of confronting driver Britany Jacobs for parking in a handicap space without a permit. McGlockton, who was Jacobs’ boyfriend, approached Drejka from the side and blindsided him with a two-handed forceful hit that knocked him down on the parking lot and caused him to slide backwards. Drejka drew his legal concealed carry handgun and fatally shot McGlockton, later stating that he was in fear of being attacked again. Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri referred the case to the Pinellas County State Attoreny’s Office.
