Topic 1 concerns the Florida Supreme Court ruling that Florida law enforcement officers can invoke Florida’s State Your Ground self-defense law in their defense. It was a unanimous ruling and directly affects Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Peter Peraza who is charged with manslaughter for the 2013 fatal shooting of Jermaine McBean carrying an air rifle.
