Eight (8) officers from the Carlsbad Police Department, Artesia Police Department and the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were targeted for assassination. Reference is made to the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force and Commander James McCormick is quoted in the story. Subjects Robert T. Matta and Michael W. Grantham are persons of interest in the investigation.
