Topic 1 concerns the New York Police Department (NYPD) electing to administratively charge Officer Daniel Pantaleo for fatally using an unauthorized chokehold on Eric Garner, even though the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has failed to charge Off. Pantaleo in the case which is almost four (4) years old. Reference was made to co-defendant Sergeant Kizzy Adonis in the story. It should be noted that the medical examiner determined that Garner’s weight and pre-existing conditions (acute and chronic bronchial asthma and hypertensive cardiovascular disease) contributed to his death.
Topic 2 concerns a lawsuit filed by John Ruszczyk alleging that his daughter’s (Justine Ruszczyk Damond’s) civil rights were violated on 07/15/2017 when she was shot by former Minneapolis Police Officer Mohamed Noor. Noor’s partner, Officer Matthew Harrity, is also named in the lawsuit along with the City, the former police chief and the current police chief.
