Topic 2 concerns an unidentified Fairfax County (Virginia) Police Department officer being suspended after he turned over an illegal immigrant to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in violation of the agencies policy. Amid public pressure, Chief Edwin Roessler Jr. decided to abandon efforts to suspend the officer after publicly stating the officer had a lapse in judgement, deprived a person of their freedom and damaged the department’s reputation.
