Topic 1 concerns an Albuquerque Jail denying officers the booking of a suspect into their COVID-19 facility. Joseph Vasquez was arrested by authorities for felony assault charges and was taken to jail but was denied entry because of Vasquez’s COVID-19 symptoms. Albuquerque Police Chief Michael Geier told local leaders that prisons should not “unlawfully refuse arrestees”.

Topic 2 concerns an Ohio officer saving the life of a shooting victim, by applying a tourniquet to his leg. Columbus Police Officer Aaron Napol acted quickly when he arrived on the scene of the shooting, rushing to the aid of the victim and applying dire first aid. Officer Napol provided the distressed victim with words of comfort and held the victim’s hand.

Topic 3 concerns an Iowa woman asking Sioux City (Utah) Police to test her meth for COVID-19. Shawn Salmon was taken into custody after she was found carrying meth, marijuana and paraphernalia in her car. Salmon approached police with drugs after seeing a “satirical” post made by law enforcement providing the “free testing of meth” for COVID-19.
