Topic 1 concerns Broward Circuit Judge Patti Englander Henning refusing to drop a lawsuit against Broward (Florida) County Sheriff’s SRO retired Deputy Scot Peterson because he says he did not have a legal duty to protect students at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during an active shooter incident. Peterson is being sued by Andrew Pollack whose daughter, Meadow, was killed in the attack due to inaction by the deputy. Attorney Michael Piper, Peterson’s attorney, is quoted in the story.
